CourtScan / methodology

Read the evidence behind the label.

CourtScan separates an indexed source record from a conclusion about your filing. Court sources and applicable orders control.

Evidence labels

Primary source reviewed means the supplied record identifies a primary-source review. It does not guarantee current applicability, completeness or court approval. Read the source and supplied review details.

Publisher reported means the record is imported or reported by a publisher. Status, dates, summaries and obligation tags are research leads, not legally verified current requirements. Historical metadata may be superseded. Never infer that an older certificate requirement remains operative without checking subsequent orders.

Review required means a monitored source changed. Any earlier primary review is historical. Unchanged text never automatically clears this flag. A first observation is BASELINED, not a new legal verification.

Dates describe different things

Issued describes when a source was issued, if supplied. Effective describes a reported effective date. Last source check records a source-check date, not the date a rule took effect or a promise it remains current. Dataset date identifies the published collection. Unknown dates stay unknown.

Coverage and scope

The explorer counts actual loaded records, not every US court. A judge-specific order is not automatically a court-wide policy. Tags summarize reported topics; missing tags do not establish the absence of duties. Proposed, superseded, withdrawn and unknown records remain research references.

Attribution and changes

Publisher material attributed to SafeLegalAI is used under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Source links and publisher attribution accompany individual records. CourtScan normalizes material into searchable fields, labels and summaries; the record is not a verbatim court document. CourtScan presentation and editorial organization do not imply publisher endorsement. Consult the linked source for original text and its rights.

Review packets and updates

Packets contain user-entered factual declarations and incomplete checks. They never establish compliance. A dataset digest is used only to detect content differences, not to certify legal accuracy. The source monitor is prepared for daily server-side text checks once its workflow is activated. The status endpoint shows whether checks have actually run. Changed text requires a new review; failed, pending or stale checks disable new filing language. Saved records compare metadata when you revisit. There is no browser polling, personal alert or email service. Site RSS contains product updates, not comprehensive court-rule changes.

Corrections

Open a record and choose Download correction report to save its provenance with blank fields for your proposed correction and supporting source. This downloads a local file; nothing is sent. No correction inbox is advertised in this edition.
